In the whirlwind of recent months, I’ve been navigating a path filled with both challenges and triumphs. When my physical health demanded attention, I had to pause and prioritise recover – something that initially felt like an unwelcome interruption to my momentum.
During this period, I found myself juggling multiple responsibilities: promoting my first book, writing the second, fulfilling my new role as a school governor, preparing for the autism and ADHD show, while still making time for joy through Latin dance and Zumba classes and spending time with my family.
There were moments when the challenges seemed overwhelming, threatening to derail not only my creative flow but the possibility of completing my project.
There was a point when I questioned whether I would complete this second book at all. Yet here I stand today, not only having finished it but having published ahead of deadline!
This journey has reminded ne once again of my belief in perseverance and determination, together with the power of mutual support.
Speaking of which, I’ve been profoundly touched by the neurodivergent individuals who have engaged with me throughout this process. Their honest feedback on my manuscript wasn’t just encouraging, it was decisive. These connections have enriched my perspective in ways I couldn’t have anticipated.
Another recent highlight on mutual support was attending a wonderful VE Day celebration yesterday alongside a former student’s inclusive charity. Spending the day with him, his mum, sister and friends while promiting my book led to encounters with truly incredible people. What a fantastic day!
As I look ahead to the remainder of this beautiful season, I’m filled with anticipation for what’s still to come. I am certain that even when the path seems unclear, staying open to possibilities often leads to unexpected blessings.
What challenges have you overcome recently that initially seemed insurmountable? Are you experiencing mutual support? How about double empathy??
