A Breath, a Book, and a Burst of Words

It’s been quiet over here, hasn’t it? A bit of silence from my end. I’ve been taking some much-needed time to focus on my health, and honestly, to have a break from the keyboard for a short, but necessary, spell. Sometimes, life throws you a spanner in the works, and you have to prioritise your well-being. Thankfully, I’m feeling almost back to normal, though I can’t help but think about the time lost. Time, as we know, is one thing we can’t get back.

But, the words are gradually flowing again! The past three days have seen me back at my desk, grappling with the manuscript for my second book. But the anxiety is real. June is looming, the supposed launch date, and it feels like that deadline is always just out of reach. Every time I think I’m gaining ground, something unavoidable pops up and throws me off course. It’s a frustrating dance, this juggling act of life and deadlines.

Thankfully, I’ve found solace and strength in connecting with fellow writers. These brilliant minds are a constant source of intellectual stimulation and emotional support. There’s something magical about sharing the trials and triumphs of the writing process with people who truly understand. And then there’s the connection with my neurodivergent readers and their support for my first book has been incredibly heartwarming, and the enthusiasm of some for the second is a powerful motivator. Knowing someone out there is rooting for me makes the hurdles feel a little less daunting.

I’ve also had the pleasure of discovering a new friend through our shared love of words. A friend of a friend, who became a real friend, whose poetry book I recently devoured. It was a reminder of the power of language to connect us, to build bridges between souls.

Blogging, I confess, has taken a back seat lately. My focus is entirely on getting the second book ready and preparing for the Autism and ADHD Show. These two commitments are demanding all my attention right now.

However, I’m always open to connecting with readers. If you have any thoughts or questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. And if you’ve read my first book and feel inclined, I would be incredibly grateful if you could leave a review on Goodreads. Your feedback is invaluable.

Ultimately, I’m trying to balance the pressure of deadlines with a healthy dose of self-compassion. I’m doing my best to meet the June launch, but I also have the humility to accept that it might not happen. If the book needs more time, then so be it. My health and the quality of the work are paramount.

I’ll keep you posted on my progress.

Until next time,
