Welcome!

I’m an educationalist, author, and passionate advocate for neurodiversity and inclusion. My journey in education and writing has been profoundly shaped by personal experiences and a deep commitment to creating a more inclusive world for people of all abilities.

My Story

Growing up with my younger brother, who has a complex intellectual disability, I’ve witnessed firsthand the challenges and triumphs that come with neurodiversity. His unique perspective and unwavering high spirit and sense of humour have been a constant source of inspiration for me. This personal connection has fueled my dedication to advocating for inclusion in education and for a true sense of belonging in our communities.

My love for writing

Book Contribution

I had the privilege of making a contribution to a book about Belonging for People with Profound Intellectual and Multiple Disabilities. This project allowed me to share my brother’s story and our joint journey, highlighting the challenges imposed by a disabling society and the impact of acceptance.

Academic Contributions

I’ve also co-authored several academic articles focusing on inclusive research methods. These articles delve into innovative approaches that ensure research is accessible and participatory. As a researcher, my main interest has been in methodologies that bridge the gap between theory and practice, providing actionable insights that educators, researchers, and practitioners can use to foster inclusion in various settings.

The Tangram Method

My recent independently published book, “The Tangram Method,” represents a significant milestone in my career. Though currently out of print, while the second edition is on its way, the book brings an inspiring fictionalised account of how I developed the method combined with a detailed description of how to employ it through structured conversations to foster unmasking among neurodivergent young people, allowing them to recognise and empower their true selves. The stories of the young people who inspired this method are interwoven throughout the book, providing a rich narrative backdrop to the practical guidance offered. The book has been followed by an accompanying practitioner manual filled with activities that can be used as they come or adapted to individual needs as well as a set of neurodiversity awareness play cards, that can be acquired ready to use or for download and adaptation/personalisation.

The growing series

As I continue to write and advocate for neurodiversity and inclusion, my mission remains developing approaches to promote the environment where everyone feels valued and understood. Furthermore, what if understanding neurotypical behavior could be as intuitive as piecing together a puzzle?

In my second book, still founded on the innovative Tangram Method, I flip the script, now offering autistic young adults and late-diagnosed individuals a powerful framework to better navigate relationships with their neurotypical counterparts. Through the introduction of new protagonists, now seven vivid neurotypical characters, each representing a distinct personality type, readers will uncover the unspoken rules, hidden social cues, and emotional nuances that often shape neurotypical interactions. More than just a guide, this book ambitiously tackles the double empathy problem from another angle, providing practical strategies to bridge the gap and foster genuine, mutual understanding. With mutual empathy, clarity, and creativity, this could become a map to building more connected, authentic relationships.

The Autism and ADHD Show 2025 and the upcoming book – to be launched in 2026

I had the great pleasure of attending the Autism and ADHD Show in London on the 20th and 21st of June 2025 at the Business Design Centre, stand E20. it was a fantastic opportunity to engage with a community passionate about celebrating neurodiversity and promoting neuro-affirming ideas, practices, services, and products fills me with excitement. it was also at the event that through my interactions with many visitors that the concept of my third book emerged.

While my first book is aimed at sharing my method of conversational support in mainstream education, and the ideal reader is a professional working with neurodivergent people and wanting to improve their practice and connection with these young people, with my second book the aim to support the process of self-awareness, so it is for autistic individuals investing in understanding their neurodivergence but also wanting to connect with their significant others who are neurotypical.

The third book of the Tangram Method series is for parents of neurodivergent children and young people. In this book I am sharing the journeys of seven fictional parents inspired by real parents I met through my work. The book shares their struggles, dilemmas and joys of being in a neurodiverse relationship with their child/ren. The book shows raw moments of despair, moments of resilience building, persistence and also pure joy. I discuss the need for parents to seek support not only for their child/ren but for themselves. I bring them to the fore, as the ultimate advocates and innovators of inclusiveness. The book tells their stories, discusses profound issues and brings also useful information about advocacy groups, support groups and other ways parents can get support to still have a meaningful life beyond the task of raising and advocating for their neurodivergent child/ren.

This will be the final book of the series the Tangram Method, which is all about building bridges of double empathy amongst neurodivergent and neuroconvergent/neurotypical people.
